Tumblr was deemed too full of inappropriate content to be allowed to be downloaded from the app store.
It has this “inappropriate” problem because of rampant porn ad bot accounts. The old solutions were bots to detect image sets with nsfw content, the automatically enabled safe mode, tag filtering for mobile, and wide takedowns of nsfw bots based on words used (that’s why their messages are full of numbers and symbols, to evade this)
Tumblr released their own bot supposedly capable of wiping the ad bots, but it’s taking down many popular blogs, possibly due to sheer amounts of posting or sheer amounts of ad bots in their notes. This bot was likely rushed to be put out.
You are more likely to be accidentally flagged if you post external links, as well. If your acct is taken down you CAN get it back, but it’s a pain. E-mail tumblr support for help with this. It takes down side blogs with the main ones.
I’ll be halting posts for about a week or until this problem is fixed.
Picked at this during the week. Started as a quick sketch that I liked the pose of and tried developing. I wanted to go for something like a trading card illustration. And I needed to practice my coloring.
I did a silhouette version that I posted on Twitter, since I thought it’d be a fun guessing game (and might make for a cool shirt or something).
It looks like tumblr now automatically converts png files to jpg - if you have a fairly “clean”/simple digital art style that gets wrecked by jpg artifacts, you’ll want to put transparency somewhere in the image - tumblr will leave pngs with transparency alone (a single pixel border of transparency around the image works and is pretty non-intrusive).
Incidentally twitter has done this for a while, the same method of fixing it works there.
so everyone is aware, a lower score on this means a better score.
I got a 30!!!!!!!! Yes!
7, but i’m an art student so
two! almost perfect! :D
…do I win a prize?
Gave it a go- what was interesting to me is I was struggling until I moved the window to my other monitor. My big/main monitor is slightly faulty on colour display- not a whole lot, but juuust enough that when I switched over to the other one I had an ‘oh’ moment and shuffled a few pieces.
Even stranger is I had felt that I submitted contained mistakes? Like there was at least one colour in two of the sequences that didn’t feel like it quite belonged.
I took a test like this back when I was in college and got a pretty good score then too. I’m not even sure my current monitor is properly calibrated for color, and there were some very slight value differences I wasn’t sure about that required some shuffling around until they seemed right. This was pretty fun, though.
Tumblr’s at it again, thanks to the new European Privacy Laws. There’s probably nobody who will read this, but it pissed me off so much that I decided to make a post about it. (Ignore the weird language mish-mash, depending on your country the language might differ.)
OK, so many of us get this screen when we try to access our dash:
Realise how the ‘OK’ button is a nice, attention-grabbing blue? If you’re like me, you’re not exactly into reading a 100 pages document and tend to just click it.
My tip? DONT. Instead click on ‘Manage Options’ right next to it:
Now you’ll see this page:
Still pretty harmless, right? That ‘Accept’ button is looking really attractive right now. Instead, click on Verwalten (Probably something like ‘Manage Options’ or something in english) and you’ll get to this page:
Now that’s not too bad, right? I just switched all the buttons to ‘off’, because I’m jealously guarding my personal information and don’t want Tumblr to go off and do who knows what with it. Looks like we’re done! But wait: There’s a SHOW option.
When we click on that one, what we will get is this:
A HUGE list with OVER 300 ENTRIES of companies that can use your data by default if you’d just clicked ‘OK’ on that very first page. Coincidence that this list is hidden that much? Me thinks not. They’re all switched on by default, but I am still a petty bitch that doesn’t want to give out her data, so I switched them all off. All 300+ of them. There is no option to switch them all off at once, and even if you disable all the options above, the companies are still switched on.
(If you wonder how i got that number, I copied the list into excel and looked at the cell number. No way am I actually counting all those entries)
I too, am a petty bitch who unticked every single one.
I’m having fun getting back into inking and trying my hand with color some more. Took me a little over two hours, and there’s probably still things I can improve, but I kinda liked this and thought I’d share it.
And shouts out to @fini-mun for getting me into the habit of tracking my time while drawing. It’s such a huge help and it’s interesting knowing how long a drawing might take me and I can usually gauge where the time gets spent.
